About me
Click to download my artist CV :)
My name is Ríon Duffy Murphy (he/they). I am a textile artist based in Dublin, with a background in fine art textiles, activism, and gender studies. My work explores queerness, intimacy, mental health, and gender through playful, technicolour pieces, most recently 3D soft sculptures.
Alongside my personal practice, I have been co-director of the trans-led, anticapitalist art collective gender.RIP since 2019. As part of gender.RIP I have helped build a reputation for facilitating exciting, inclusive events and workshops, and was an artist mentor in A4Sounds Studio’s We Only Want the Earth residency programme for 3 years.
In 2023 I founded the free, independent Irish arts magazine Lemon Piglet with designer Ren McDonagh. You can find out more about it on our website.
I am a member of Visual Artists Ireland, a studio member at A4Sounds Studios, Dublin. I was awarded the Arts Council Agility Award in 2023.
